Marriage and Family: 7 Secrets to a thriving marriage (Part 3)

March 24, 2011

"The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." (John 10:10)

The third secret found in our new DVD series is from our chapter "A Look at Our Legacy" Let's face it, we are all a product of our environment, our up-bringing, this culture, this world and the things that have occurred over the course of our lives that form and fashion how we relate. Not only that, but we have an enemy that loves to steal, kill and destroy.  That is why the third secret involves learning the enemy's strategy, how to fight him well and finding freedom for your life and marriage in Christ.

Our scripture focus is John 10 where Jesus is the Good Shepherd describing HIS relationship with HIS sheep.  In other words, this passage is for Christians (sheep) who already know the Shepherd (Jesus).  And right here in John 10:10, Jesus describes the battle that wages between dark and light, good and evil, righteousness and unrighteousness, our enemy verses our Savior-Shepherd.  Praise God that Christ promises LIFE at the end of the verse.  Otherwise we would be doomed, hopeless, empty.

But what does this really mean?  In order to grasp the depth of what Christ is saying, you have to understand what HE means by the word LIFE.  The truth is, that this word LIFE here in verse 10 is not eternal life, but the quality of life that Christ wants us to have after we are saved and as we follow him. That word LIFE is ZOE - it means superior in quality, superb in quantity.  And this is exactly what the enemy is trying to steal, kill and destroy in Christ followers.

How's he doing in your life?  In other words, as a born again, Christ follower, how would you answer this question:  Are you currently experiencing the abundant, ZOE life Christ offers you?  If you answered NO, then why not?

But don't despair....this is exactly what we tackled in this chapter of LET'S GET REAL....why we don't have the ZOE life, how we lost it, and how to get it back.  Wouldn't that be great news for you.  To learn how to fight the enemy, look at your legacy, break some chains, live in abundance!

To jump start you, we thought we would share a couple of scriptures and a prayer in the work-book that goes with the DVD teaching.  The prayer was in response to looking at the scriptures below and asking the reader to record the most important words as they apply to their life and freedom in Christ.  Why not take a moment and look up these verses and record the most important words to you!

2 Peter 1:3-10

Romans 8:25-28

and now, here's the parayer...

"Lord Jesus, thank you for these promises.  Holy Spirit, please intercede on my behalf.  Bring me freedom for my life and marriage.  Thank you for working everything for Your good.  Help me to cooperate with You and allow You to help me tear down the strongholds in my life.  Help me to uproot them and replace them with Your truth so that my life and marriage can be all that You intend.  In Jesus name, Amen"

If you want to know more about how to have the kind of marriage and relationships that Christ offers you.  Even if you are not married, but you want to know more about how to walk in freedom and abundance, then why not get your own copy of our workbook and DVD series and start your own journey toward authenticity and wholeness.  You can find more information at our on-line store or by clicking HERE.
